'Can't Hurt Me' by David Goggins was released a couple of months ago and having read it over the festive period, we decided it's too good not to mention here.
David Goggins’ life story is absolutely incredible. His childhood was horrendous with prejudice and physical abuse being a daily occurrence. However, from this trauma came a determination and a work ethic which changed him from an overweight guy suffering from depression into a US military icon and one of the top ultra runners in the world.
This book is packed with stories from Navy SEAL and Army Ranger training as well as tales from multiple ultra races such as Badwater and Leadville. Goggins explains how it felt to run the San Diego 100 miler on zero training, having done a 2 hour lifting session the night before. Not the brightest idea but it makes for an entertaining anecdote!
It's incredibly honest, raw and shocking at times. It's not for the faint hearted, but if you're looking for an inspiring read that'll really make you question whether you could be doing more to reach your objectives, Can't Hurt Me is definitely the book for you. It can be found in readable form here, but it's also available on Audible if you subscribe to that.
